5-MINUTE MARKETING HACK
How a 24-Hour Flash Sale Helped Us Add $20K a Month
If you’re running ads and not using flash sales, you’re leaving a ton of cash on the table. I added an extra $20K in monthly revenue by doing one simple thing—a 24-hour flash sale—and I’m here to break it down step-by-step.
We all know ads work, but most businesses only focus on the long game—bringing in a steady stream of cold traffic. What if you could create a high-value, time-sensitive offer that pushes hesitant prospects off the fence and turns them into paying customers immediately? That’s what the 24-hour flash sale is all about.
Step 1: Targeting Cold Traffic
Fresh Audience:
We direct our ads to people who have never heard of us. This isn’t about remarketing or nurturing warm leads; it’s about reaching a fresh audience that desperately needs a solution to their problem.Daily Ad Spend:
On a typical day, we spend around $2,500 on these cold traffic ads. This builds a constant funnel of new prospects.
Step 2: Crafting the 24-Hour Flash Sale
Scarcity is Key:
You only run this sale once a month (or every couple of months). The idea is to create an offer that’s not expected—something that drops without warning and is available for just 24 hours.Example: “This deal is 24 hours only! Once it’s gone, it’s gone.”
Bundle, Don’t Discount:
Instead of slashing your prices, you increase the perceived value of your core offer by throwing in bonuses. For a Landscaping Business:
Core Service: Regular grass cutting.
Bonus Items: Free grass seeding, complimentary aeration, and a hedge trim on the first visit.
Typically these items have a fixed cost on their own but we give them for free for our flash sale to make the offer impossible to say no to.
Secret tip: if you already know what products your customers typically also buy or bundle together then you know EXACTLY what would give new customers the most value if included for free in the bundle.
This way, you’re not cheapening your offer. You’re making it a no-brainer purchase because the package is jam-packed with value.
Step 3: Supercharging Your Ad Spend on Flash Days
Extra Budget:
On the day of your flash sale, you need to amplify your reach. This means increasing your ad spend—often doubling or even tripling it.Real-World Example:
If your regular spend is $2,500, on a flash sale day, you might spend an extra $5,000. This extra push ensures that your unexpected offer reaches as many potential customers as possible.
Tie It to a Holiday or Event:
Adding a theme makes the offer feel even more special.Examples:
New Year’s flash sale: “Kick off the new year with a deal you can’t refuse!”
Halloween: “This spooky deal vanishes in 24 hours!”
Even something quirky like National Cupcake Day—anything to give your campaign context and relevance.
The Psychology Behind It
Element of Surprise:
Your audience is used to seeing your regular ads, so when the flash sale drops unexpectedly, it stands out. People start to watch for it, and if they miss it, they know they might not get a similar deal anytime soon.Urgency:
The “24 hours only” call-to-action forces immediate decision-making. People can’t afford to wait—this is now or never. It removes the “I'll think about it” mindset and drives action on the spot.Overcoming Hesitation:
You may have prospects clicking your ads, showing interest, but never committing. A flash sale breaks that pattern. It’s a final nudge that turns browsers into buyers because they know the offer is fleeting.
Results You Can Expect
By integrating this flash sale strategy, we’ve seen:
Immediate Surge in Revenue:
In one day, a well-executed flash sale can bring in hundreds or even thousands of extra dollars. When aggregated over a month, that’s how we hit an extra $20K.More Leads & Conversions:
The buzz around the flash sale not only converts new customers but also increases overall brand engagement.Increased Lifetime Value:
Even if the sale is a one-off, customers who jump on the deal often become repeat buyers, paying full price later on because they now trust and value your brand.
The Bottom Line
You don’t need an overly complex strategy. The formula is simple:
Attract new prospects with cold traffic ads.
Create a high-value, time-sensitive offer that bundles bonuses rather than discounting your core service.
Supercharge your ad spend on the flash day to ensure maximum reach.
This is how you flip a standard ad campaign into a money-making event.
If you’re already running ads, this is one tweak that can have a massive impact. Try it out, analyze your results, and scale what works.
See you next week!
